De jonge onderwijzeres Samira komt uit haar dorp in Bosnië-Herzegovina terecht in een Servisch gevangenenkamp. Onder erbarmelijke omstandigheden wordt ze door haar mooie uiterlijk al gauw slachtoffer van de hogere officieren. Samira besluit te kiezen voor het leven en haar haat voor haar onderdrukkers te negeren.
