  • IFFB stops, new part in a larger festival
    As of November 1st 2011, the International Film Festival Breda has been dissolved, and will no longer exist with it's original organization. After three terrific festivals, a fourth edition will not take place in March of 2012. From the newly reopened House of Visual Culture, the Breda located festivals will like Graphic Design Festival Breda and Breda Photo will, combined, present an all new, larger than life festival about visual culture in all shapes and sizes, disciplines and art forms.
  • 48 hours, 15 awards
    On the last day of the festival, in a very crowded Festival Pavilion, the winners of the 48 Hour Film Project were announced.
  • HEJA audience Award goes to Mark de Cloe
    With an almost perfect score of 4.95 out of 5, Mark de Cloe’s ‘De sterkste man van Nederland’ won the HEJA Audience Award. 
  • And the NTR Early Bird winner is..
    The French director Damien Manivel wins the NTR Early Bird Award 2011 for his ‘La dame au chien’, which was announced at the IFFB. 
  • IFFB's opening film wins Oscar!
    Last night IFFB's opening film 'In a Better World' won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Feature Film! The festival is very happy to congratulate Susanne Bier with this splendid award!

    Susanne Bier's 'In a Better World' will be the opening film of IFFB 2011.

    This year our Homecoming guest is screenwriter Maria Goos! Her greatest succes is 'Cloaca' - first a play, then an already classic Dutch film, and then a worldwide theatre phenomenon.

    The French director Damien Manivel wins the NTR Early Bird Award 2011 for his‘La dame au chien’. Manivel was not present at the festival, but thanked the IFFB, the judges and the audience in a video message from France.

    Authenticity or mass culture? Online or offline? The IFFB's mission to represent modern day visual culture in all shapes and forms does not stop at presenting the masters of cinema and their latest efforts. The programme (Un)Plugged focuses on a visual representation of new aspects of film making and original point of view by new directors. 
  • IFFB 2011: Media Me
    The reflections on the contemporary Digital Revolution in Bert Kommerijk’s ‘Media Me’ are mirrored in the proces through which this crossmedial project was created.

  • IFFB TV: Eelco Brand
    In the second installment of IFFB TV, the students of AKV St. Joost focus on Breda-born artist Eelco Brand. Sunday sees the opening of the exposition EELCOBRAND.MOVI, which shows a selection of his ´paintings in motion´.

    Filmmaker Félix Dufour-Laperrière sheds light on his short film 'Strips', a sensual dance created from historical black and white images. ' een sensuele dans in historisch zwart/wit-materiaal. 'This is a woman who probably has grandchildren.'
